Trevor Menders

Trevor Menders started dancing at the City Ballet School of San Diego at age four. He joined the school's pre-professional division at thirteen, spending summers performing with the junior company and supplementing his training at the North Carolina School of the Arts, the Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre School, and Chicago's Joffrey Academy of Dance. He spent his senior year as a trainee with the City Ballet of San Diego's main company, performing in Giselle, Romeo & Juliet, and The Nutcracker before matriculating to Columbia University.

Trevor continued dancing with both Columbia University Ballet Ensemble (CUBE) and Columbia Ballet Collaborative while serving as CUBE's inaugural financial director and interning for the nonprofit organization Dance/NYC. Trevor has since pivoted from arts practice and management to art history: after graduating, he spent a year as a Fulbright scholar at Tokyo University of the Arts and has since worked with organizations ranging from the Kyoto National Museum to Christie's. He is currently a doctoral candidate in the Department of History of Art & Architecture at Harvard University, where his work on the intersection of performing and visual arts in early modern East Asia has won both the Japan Art History Forum's Chino Kaori Memorial Prize and Harvard's Bowdoin Prize.
