Katie Capristo, from Delaware, USA, brings a perspective informed by her former career in professional ballet to her work in art museums. After attending numerous prestigious ballet summer intensives and dedicating years to professional ballet, including three years with Pennsylvania Ballet II dancing professionally with the Philadelphia Ballet, Katie initially envisioned a lifelong career on stage and in pointe shoes. However, transitioning from ballet to academics and arts communication marked a profound and rewarding chapter in her journey.
Drawing on the discipline and creativity honed through her professional ballet career, Katie pursued both a bachelor's degree (BA, George Washington University, Art History) and a master's degree (MA, Georgetown University, Art and Museum Studies), ultimately channeling her passion for the arts into a thriving career. Now serving as Head of Communications and Membership at The Kreeger Museum, an art museum in Washington DC focusing on Impressionist and modern art, she leads efforts to deepen audience engagement and connect the museum’s mission with the community.
